Mode 2 or Mode 3: what TNB and ST actually require
The cheap lead in the boot is a Mode question, not a bargain.
Suruhanjaya Tenaga GP/ST/No. 54/2025 says what may be plugged in. TNB’s EV Home Charger guide says what a landed Peninsular house may install. Neither page sells a kit. When that kWh is worth something already lives on daytime solar vs night ToU.
What ST allows

ST: Mode 1 shall not be allowed. Modes 2, 3, and 4 are allowed. Mode 2 is capped at ≤32 A, ≤230 V AC single-phase or ≤400 V AC three-phase, via the IC-CPD. This page does not recommend Mode 1.
What TNB says about a landed wallbox
TNB’s published EV Home Charger guide, Peninsular domestic:

ST also wants all wiring done by a competent person, on a dedicated final circuit (continuous cable, no joints). Form G and H sit with that person after the install. Whether one private landed Mode 3 also needs a separate ST EVCS licence beyond the contractor and Form G/H is UNKNOWN. TNB’s home guide does not ask the homeowner to apply to ST for a charger licence.
Single-phase on the TNB meter is two wires; three-phase is four. If the house is still single-phase, the 10 kW total-usage cap is the wall, not a brochure kW on the charger box.
Daily home charging: portable vs wallbox
Mode 2 is the portable IC-CPD cable. ST allows it. Daily home charging, as the fixed install is framed, is Mode 3 — a wallbox on a dedicated circuit.
Do not treat the boot lead as the house rule. Do not treat Mode 1 as a cheaper Mode 2. Mode 1 is not allowed.
This page will not publish a charger RM price. None sits on the ST, TNB, SEDA, or LHDN pages we checked on 18 Aug 2026. That figure is UNKNOWN. Vendor ranges are not official.
Who this page is not for
Condo / apartment / multi-tenant: out of scope. For ATAP, multi-tenant (tenant sub-meter) accounts are not eligible; the ST guideline does not name condos or apartments. This page is a landed TNB house.

Tax relief — not a rebate
LHDN TP1 (2026) item C15: individual relief up to RM2,500 on EV charging facilities for own use — installation, rental, purchase including hire-purchase, or subscription. Not for business.
MOF set the EV-charging window through YA 2027. The pot is shared with other C15 items. This is a relief, not a cash rebate. The cash effect is the amount times your marginal rate; we do not calculate it here. No official home-charger cash rebate was found.
This relief is not SuRIA, and SuRIA is not a charger rebate.

ST juga mahu semua pendawaian dibuat oleh orang kompeten, pada litar akhir berasingan (kabel berterusan, tiada sambungan). Borang G dan H duduk dengan orang itu selepas pasang. Sama ada satu Mod 3 landed persendirian juga perlukan lesen EVCS ST berasingan di luar kontraktor dan Borang G/H tidak diketahui. Panduan rumah TNB tidak minta tuan rumah mohon lesen pengecas daripada ST.
Fasa tunggal pada meter TNB ialah dua wayar; tiga fasa ialah empat. Jika rumah masih fasa tunggal, siling jumlah 10 kW itu dindingnya, bukan kW brosur pada kotak pengecas.
Cas rumah harian: mudah alih vs wallbox
Mod 2 ialah kabel IC-CPD mudah alih. ST benarkannya. Cas rumah harian, seperti pemasangan tetap dibingkaikan, ialah Mod 3 — wallbox pada litar berasingan.
Jangan anggap kabel but sebagai peraturan rumah. Jangan anggap Mod 1 sebagai Mod 2 yang lebih murah. Mod 1 tidak dibenarkan.

Pelepasan cukai — bukan rebat
LHDN TP1 (2026) item C15: pelepasan individu sehingga RM2,500 atas kemudahan pengecasan EV untuk guna sendiri — pemasangan, sewa, belian termasuk sewa beli, atau langganan. Bukan untuk perniagaan.
MOF tetapkan tingkap pengecasan EV hingga YA 2027. Periuk kongsi dengan item C15 lain. Ini pelepasan, bukan rebat tunai. Kesan tunai ialah jumlah kali kadar marginal anda; kami tidak kira di sini. Tiada rebat tunai rasmi untuk pengecas rumah dijumpai.
Pelepasan ini bukan SuRIA, dan SuRIA bukan rebat pengecas.
